Abstract

Water is passed directly into a bacterial treatment chamber contg. rotating discs or a vertical shaft, after preliminary sedimentation treatment to remove sand etc. The water is subsequently aerated, to complete purificn. and subjected to decantation before discharge. The biological treatment proceeds at improved efficiency, and disc area may be reduce; power requirement is less than when aeration precedes the biological stage, as in parent patent.
