Abstract

Packaging and esp. bags made of flexible film stiffened for at least part of its length by ancillary strips of e.g. gummed paper, along the fold crests. Makes relatively supple materials such as polyethylene film stiff enough to be manipulated rapidly through high speed bag mfr. machinery and to offer self-supporting sidewalls and an open mouth for convenience in filling. Less expensive than increasing film wall thickness, while most of the bag wall remains transparent for display and provides alternative surfaces for print display.
