Abstract

2-Stroke engines are lubricated with 0.05-10 wt.% (based on the fuel) of a lubricant based on a mixt. of (a) >=1 polyester of formula X -O-G-O-CO-A-CO n-Y; X O-G-O-CO-A-CO-n -O-G-OX and or Y-CO-A-CO- O-G-O-CO-A-CO n Y (where G, X, Y and n are a defined in the parent patent; A is a divalent, opt. unsatd. opt. branched aliphatic gp. a divalent aromatic gp. or a divalent halogenated alicyclic gp.) and (b) >=1 cpd. selected from monocarboxylic acids (and lower alkyl esters), amines, amine salts, amides, nitriles and alcohols contg. an 8-24C aliphatic chain, 36C aliphatic dicarboxylic acids (and simple esters) and 54C aliphatic tricarboxylic acids (and simple esters).
