Abstract

The conc. of Al salt in the xanthane gum is 0.1-0.5% to give a liq. suspension and 0.5-2% to give a thick gel. In an example, the opaquing agent consists of 0.100 g Al salt in xanthane gum, 0.150 g citric acid, 0.050 g benzoic acid, 0.010 g EDTA, 3.753 g sugar, 50.00 g BaSO4, and 100 g water.
