Abstract

The magnetic field rotating inside the furnace is produced by coils placed at intervals of 120 degrees on its periphery and supplied with alternating triphase current. The peripheral coils are divided longitudinally into insulated sections supplied with independently controlled currents. The rotation of the molten material as a uniform layer is easily effected within the furnace. The fixed furnace is simpler and less expensive than a rotating furnace.
