Method of making bricks, tiles and similar articles comprises first moulding a mixt. of (MgCa)CO3, (Al2O3)x(SiO2)y, CaSiO3, Fe2O3, water and an electrolyte to form a first paste, allowing to set, grinding and mixing with a second paste comprising 500 p.b.w. Al silicate, 150 p.b.w. (Mg Ca)CO3, 80 p.b.w. CaO, 215 p.b.w. CaSiO3, 50 p.b.w. Fe2O3, 5 p.b.w. Na metapolyphosphate together with water and an electrolyte to give a slow setting paste, giving a product which is mechanically strong.
