Abstract
Electrode used in sensor determining various substances in liquids (e.g. H+ or other ions in solns.) or in gas phase (e.g. O2 or CO2 in atmos.) consists of an electronically conducting, superficially oxidised metal base; an ion-specific membrane closely adhering to at least a part of the base made from a hydrophobic, elastomeric polymer having a dielectric constant of 4-13 and contg. an ion-specific carrier, and an electric insulation covering the remaining part of the base. The electrolyte can be an aq. coln. immobilised by the ion-specific membrane, or an anion-exchange resin. These electrodes are stable; they can be executed in various shapes and dimensions; and have low impedance.
