Abstract

Compsn. contains (A) normally flammable, high mol. linear polyester resin (e.g. PET), and (B) a minor amt. (e.g. 5-25%) of a P-contg. additive of formula: where X is -O- or a C-P linkage, and (i) when X is -O- then R is brominated aryl, and Y and G are brominated aryloxy gps.; and (ii) when X is a C-P link age then R is aryl; Y is (oxy)aryl, or oxy(cyclo)alkyl, and G is (oxy)aryl or a unit (opt. repeating) of formula: where R is aryl, divalent (cyclo)alkylene or poly(arylene, or such a residue, inter rupted by alkylidene, O-, N-, S-, or P-contg. gps.; Z is H, (cyclo)alkyl or aryl; and G and Y together form dioxy-(cyclo)alkylene or dioxyarylene gps. Tris(4-bromophenyl) phosphate is suitable.
