Abstract

A mixt. of materials for use as a cosmetic cleansing agent and as a pharmaceutical excipient, esp. as a vehicle for the bacteriostat trichlorocarbanilide, contains (a) 2-2.5 wt.pts. of a lanolin deriv., pref. ca. 2 wt.pts. of an acylated condensation product of 1 mole lanolin and 9 moles ethylene oxide; (b) ca. 2 wt.pts. of a lauryl alcohol deriv., pref. of formula (I): C12H25O(CH2CH2O)2SO3Na; and 95.5 wt.pts. of a mixt. of (c) a second lauryl alcohol deriv., pref. a mixt. of (I) and Na laurylsulphate, and (d) a small amt. of a polyethyleneglycol with a mol.wt. of ca. 400. The mixt. pref. contains 60-70, esp. 64.3, pts. (c) and 25-35, esp. 30, pts. (d).
