Abstract

The plant can be adjusted in size by using a number of factory assembled units. The plant consists of a cylinder which is closed at each end by a dome; it is divided in its lower portion by a longitudinal partition which extends upwards as a gutter, having a section in the form of a funnel. The necessary turbulence is obtd. by a turbine with a horizontal axis; it draws air in through an inlet at the top. The air is emulsified in the water to be treated and projected horizontally but the oxidising turbulence is not communicated to the inside of the gutter which is filled with calm water; this is collected in another gutter and leaves by the outlet. In the simplified appts. the sludge is recycled by the stirring and aeration, so that a high degree of efficiency is assured. The plant can be manufactured entirely in polyethylene.
