Abstract

Plastic insulated cables are joined together or repaired by winding on the cable a meltable insulation strip whose diameter corresponds with that of the cable insulation and melting the strip with a heated tool os that applied winding is closed up rigidly in the radical direction and resiliently in the axial direction. Method gives a uniformly wound insulation strip with a smooth surface and uniform thickness. Cavities are absent from the applied winding.
