Abstract

For the casting of the lid crutch (support bracket) with the lid hinge on to a tin lid consisting firstly of pressing together the various mould parts contg. a cavity having the shape of the lid bracket, a recess for the hinge, which is inserted prior to assembly, a slot for the rim of the lid and a metal casting funnel, followed by casting and taking apart of the mould, the mould parts are pressed together mechanically with the edge of the lid being introduced into the closed mould assembly, which is sealed off adjacent to the lid with a rubber elastic heat resisting sealing element, pref. silicone rubber. The method saves time since there is no need to use a refractory paste sealant which has to be dried slowly. Used for mfe. of hinged lid assemblies for beer mugs, etc.
