Abstract

Closure system for a pre-stressed concrete vessel of the type having a plug fitting the body of the vessel and supported in sealed manner on a shoulder on the upper part of the inner wall of the vessel, more esp. a concrete vessel for enclosing a nuclear reactor, comprising a series of removable wedges, with means for gripping them, distributed round the periphery of the plug and sloping with respect to the vessel axis, each supported at its end on machined surfaces on the upper external periphery of the plug and the lower inner periphery of a pre-stressed concrete ring respectively, the latter being placed on top of and pulled towards the body of the vessel by a system of sliding pre-stressing armatures, and being provided with means for lifting it from the vessel and thereby liberating the wedges.
