Abstract

Agglomerates comprising pieces of broken or ground plastic foam in binders such as lime, cement or plaster. The filler may be pieces of virgin foam or pref. recovered or reground scrap foam, varying in size from small chips to several cc and mixed with plasticizers, dyes, adhesives and other additives depending on the application envisaged. For mfr. of cheap agglomerates of relatively low density and with semi tailored thermal or acoustic insulation properties or strength, typically using about 3 volumes foam per volume matrix. May be cast or moulded to make building panels, paving, ducts, etc.
