Abstract

Granular or powdered materials, such as sand, crushed mineral ore, coal, sludge is dried after washing by being conveyed over a grille which has a sub-atmos pheric pressure maintained on the other side. The moisture content can be reduced to a degree suitable for storage transport or immediate use. The operation is continuous and is equally efficient as more expensive and sophisticated operations under-taken in centrifuging and vibratory equipment.
