Abstract

Plastic closure provided with an upper panel, an annular, downwardly extending cover and inwardly extending projections formed on the lower edge of the cover is produced by (a) placing a three-part press plug in a cavity defining the closure in order to form the plastic closure as an integral unit, (b) axially withdrawing a first part of the press plug in order to detach the projections on the formed closure and to open channels in a second part of the press plug near the inner channel surface of the formed closure, (c) rotating the second part of the press plug in order to bring the channels in line with the projections on the formed closure, and (d) axially moving a third part of the press plug relative to the second part in order to press the completed closure free of the press plug.
