Abstract

The lifting element is secured to a support engaging a threaded abutment carried on a worm screw. As the screw in rotated by a drive motor, the threaded abutment lifts the lifting element causing it to actuate the needles. Pref. the complete assembly is carried on a housing which is movable to bring the lifting element to a position in which it cannot actuate the needles when direction inversion takes place. The device ensures accurate operation of the needles thereby providing a uniform tight knit.
