Abstract

A flare body for a parachute type flare for use between -65 to 165 degrees F is obtained using a castable illuminant flare compn. comprising an uncured, high oxygen content liquid binder esp. unsatd. polyester/liquid epoxy resin system, which is loaded into a casing lined with partially cured liner material comprising the binder material, and an anchor sheet bonded completely on its inner surface to the outer surface of the liner and on its outer surface to the inner casing wall only by a relatively narrow anchor strip running top to bottom of the casing. The loaded casing and contents are heated to cure the polymeric binder in the compn., liner and anchor strip.
