Abstract
Compressin-resistant Zn alloys contain (in wt %) 2-15 (esp. 2.5-7) Al, 2-10 (3-7) Cu, 0.02-0.15 (0.04-0.1) Mg, 0.02-0.15 (0.04-0.1) Be, 0.01-0.5 (0.08-0.15) Ti, opt. 0.01-3 Ag, bal. Zn, and are esp. useful as bearing metals, also as working materials for casting moulds, pistons, constructional materials exposed to compression, spring bars and other machine parts. Alloys have up to 110 kg/sq mm compression resistance and 43 kg/sq. mm. proof stress on compressive deformation, high compressive strain on fracture, no intermetallic corrosion.
