Abstract

An o pening is made in the plane walls and profiles are buried in the masonry open in the direction of the interior of the opening, a framework of fibre reinforced plastic forms the bay and has two open faces, one to fit into the openings in the walls and the other to receive windows etc. The bay is attached by means of bolts after fixing coves between the edges of the bay and the opening, the edges are cemented with a hardenable cement and after removing the coves a joint is inserted. The method enables the prefabrication of bay windows. The profile is pref. rectangular, surrounding the opening and with a slit directed towards the centre. The bay is moulded from two shells which surround a metal reinforcement. The space between them may be filled with an insulating material such as polyurethane foam.
