Abstract

Apparatus comprises a heat-insulated enclosure with at least one evaporation and at least one condensation compartment, the former being fed from above by hot, raw water, which flows or drips downwards. A gas circulation, particularly of air, traverses successively the evaporation and the condensation compartments, first taking up water vapour at an increasing temperature in the evaporation compartment and then discharging the condensed vapour at a decreasing temperature in the condensation compartment, and transfer of heat takes place from the condensation to the evaporation compartment through the wall separating these compartments.
