Abstract
Insoluble resinous quat. ammonium cpd. is cross-linked copolymer of mixture of aromatic monovinyl hydrocarbon and smaller amount by wt. of aliphatic polyfunctional methacrylate with >=3 methacrylate groups. Copolymer has substituents, on aromatic nucleus, of gen. formula -CnH2n-N-R3+Y- (in which n is 1-4; R's are monovalent hydrocarbyl; Y is anion).These resins can be used for removing anions from fluids, and esp.in recovery of U from uranyl sulphate via anionic complex with sulphate ions. Basicity of resin is of same order as that of NaOH
