Abstract

Flow control device for molten glass or other vitreous material comprises a flow tube incorporating a cooling zone which can be introduced between two neighbouring heating zones. Between the cooling zone and at least one of the heating zones a neutral zone is provided to hold the temperature. The flow control effects a control of temperature on the melt, giving improved uniformity to successive moulded articles by providing uniformity of gob size at the mould, whatever the ambient temperature.
