Abstract

Oils, as used for lubrication of clocks and similar mechanisms, contain 0.2 to 1% of a synergistic antioxidant combination of an ester-substituted phenol (pref. propyl gallate) and a phosphorous acid ester, such as pentaerythritol phosphite. The proportion of the latter should not exceed 60% of the additive. Resistance to ageing at temps. up to 80 degrees C in contact with iron and copper is much improved.
