Abstract

Reservoirs subjected to a hydrostatic load are of 'aplexic' structure formed from polyhedra inscribed in spheres starting from a square as in FR 1 463 859 and FR 90619, with the improvement whereby the polyhedra are limited on their pairs of common faces by the radical planes of the pairs of spheres and on their independent faces, i.e. in accordance with the envelope of the reservoir, by a portion of a cylinder having as its base an equatorial great circle of the corresponding sphere, the structure described not including either the base or roof of the reservoir. Structure is suitable for hydrocarbon reservoirs in refineries, water towers and submerged hydrocarbon reservoirs.
