Abstract
Improved method for L-lysine, wherein Coryne glutamicum ATCC13287 (I) ATCC 14296(II) (US. 2,979,439), is irradiated with U.V. giving rise to a series of mutants:- III C. gluturicum M-901-2347 ATCC 21253 IV " M 901-2279 ATCC 21254 V " M 901-2234 ATCC 21255 VI " KY 9494 ATCC 21299 VII " KY 10092 ATCC 21300 When these mutants are incubated under standard conditions in the usual media (US. 2,979,439) plus certain added amino acid, high concs. of L-lysine are produced. The required amino acida are:- For I homoserine, or thr + met, or thr + cystathionine, or thr + homocysteine III homoserine + leu, thr + leu + met, thr. + leu + cystathionine, or thr + leu + homocysteine. IV homoserine + his, thr + his + met, thr + his + cystathionine, or thr + his + homocysteine. V homoserine + ileu + val, thr + met + ileu + val, thr + ileu + val + cystathionine, or thr + homocysteine + iley + val. II thr. VI thr + his VII thr + leu The produced lysine is isolated in the usual way, e.g. ion-exchange, extn. metal complexing, etc., and is generally free from byproducts.
