Abstract

Volatile substances such as perfumes, antiseptics, deodorisers, animal repellents and disinfectants are impregnated on to an inert, absorbent material and coated with a film permeable to the volatile vapours. Stabilisers and evaporation regulators may also be incorporated. Powdered absorbants (alumina, clay, calcium carbonate etc) may be impregnated and moulded into plates by compression. Suitable films are polymers, copolymers or paper or fabrics which may be impregnated with varnish. Products have high mechanical resistance and evolve vapours steadily over a long period.
