Abstract

Low-resin content mixture for moulding under pressure comprises, by weight at least 50% mineral dust, less than 30% thermosetting resin and 3-15% glass, asbestos or sisal fibres which are 0.1 to 1.5 ins. long and which all lie in the plane of a sheet made from the mixture. The low resin content and the use of low-cost mineral dusts reduce the total cost of the mixture. Fire resistance is increased by reducing the resin content and the filler may be chosen to give high abrasion resistance. The surface appearance resembles that of the original stone. Building sheets, which may be formed into double panels having a central insulating layer, service ducts or cavities to receive a filling. Window and door frames, road surfaces, tanks, channels and girders.
