Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of intensifying washing of pulp, especially in connection with oxygen delignification. The invention especially relates to the utilization of fractionating wash in oxygen delignification. The pulp is washed in at least two fractionating displacement washing stages (12, 22). Two different filtrate fractions (S1, S2) are removed from the second washing stage. These filtrates are used as washing liquids in the first washing stage (12). The temperature in the washing system is maintained above 90 DEG C and the thickness of the pulp layer to be washed is higher than 70 mm.
