Abstract

The proposed headbox is such that, during operation, the substance suspension, when it enters the nozzle space (3), has a speed profile (7) which assumes higher values towards the lateral edges (12) of the nozzle space than in the remaining region. By guiding part of the substance suspension away from the edge regions of the nozzle space, the speed profile at the outlet gap of the nozzle space, where a suspension jet is formed, is controlled in the desired way, in particular made uniform. The essential advantages are a favourable control behaviour and the provision of a desired fibre orientation. <IMAGE>
