Abstract

The invention concerns the use of 1,2-benzopyrone derivatives, in particular umbelliferone, esculine, esculetine and scopoletine, to treat malignant tumours in humans. The derivatives claimed are suitable for both preventive and therapeutic treatment, and they exhibit in particular a growth-inhibiting action against brain-tumour cells, as well as against cells from human kidney, prostate-gland, skin and lung carcinomas.
