Abstract
Bk-roll 10 with heated casing 10a, which comprises a roll axle 15 and a roll casing 10a supported in bearings so as to rotate on same. Between the roll axle 15 and the inner surface 10" of the roll casing 10a, there is a series of piston-cylinder combinations 22,23, powered hydraulically or by other means, with one or more sliding shoes 25 which have a sliding surface 27 in contact with the inner surface 10" of the roll casing 10a. By means of the sliding shoes 25, the distribution of the flexing of the roll casing 10a in the axial direction is compensated or controlled. In order to heat the bk-roll 10 casing 10a, there is arranged, inside the casing 10a, an electromagnetic induction-heating system 20,30;35,38,40, the functioning of which is based on the resistive- heating effect of the eddy currents generated in the roll casing 10a. In the space 16 between the roll casing 10a and the roll axle 15, a heating medium, e.g. oil, is introduced, by which the roll casing 10a is heated up in conjunction with the induction-heating effect. <IMAGE>
