The invention relates to a box made of plastic material, the so-called a bottle basket specially intended for the storage of beverage bottles during transport, storage and sale. The bottle basket according to the invention has a grate-like bottom and side and end walls, whereby at least one of the side walls is provided with an opening so large that the bottles are well visible and can be seen through the opening when the bottles are arranged in a compartment formed on the bottom of the basket.

A bottle basket such as the one described above is previously known, for example, from Finnish patent publication 43281. This known bottle basket has an opening in the side wall from which the bottles can be removed, closed by a transverse strip or the like, the ends of which are adapted to co-operate with grooves, guides or the like.

In practice, the the bottle basket was found to have some serious flaws. Namely, said closing strips can easily break or become dislodged, in which case the baskets often have to replace the parts in question, which naturally incurs costs. The lack of closure ribs causes transport disruptions when bottles fall out of baskets and possibly break. The slats can be accidentally left in the open position, which means that there is a high risk of the bottles falling when the basket is transported. During handling, it may happen that the basket is accidentally grabbed from the bar, causing the bar to open and the bottles to fall. A further disadvantage is that the in the bottle basket, the bottles are allowed to bump freely and rub against each other. As a result, the bottles wear out and the risk of breakage increases.

It is an object of the present invention to obviate the above-mentioned drawbacks by providing a bottle basket in which the retention of bottles in the basket 2 62801 during transport is ensured in a new manner according to the invention. At the same time, according to the invention, the access to the bottles is arranged in a simple manner.

The basket can be made of plastic in one piece in a manner known per se, and no separate securing elements are required.

The bottle basket according to the invention is mainly characterized in that the height of the opening formed in the at least one side wall is lower than the height of the bottle and in that at least one downwardly opening groove or notch or the like is formed in the rib delimiting the top edge of the opening, the height of the opening being at least approximately when emptying the basket, by tilting the bottle closest to the notch in the direction of the notch, the mouth part of the bottle can be released from behind the rib and the bottle can be taken out of the basket.

By implementing the bottle basket according to the invention according to the claims, it is thus provided that the bottles of the row of bottles closest to the wall remain secured in place by a rib extending at least partially in the height direction at the mouth of the bottle. In this case, the bottles can be kept in place during transport and storage. By turning the notch or bottles closest to the notch formed in the rib in particular, the bottle in question can in each case be released from behind the rib, so that the bottle can be taken out of the basket. After the bottles closest to the notch have been removed, so much space is already formed inside the basket that the other bottles can be easily brought out by turning them in the direction of the adjacent empty compartments and thus removing the bottles from the basket.

The bottle basket according to the invention is made of plastic in one piece in a manner known per se and comprises side walls 1 and 2 as well as end walls 3 and 4 and a grate base 5 in which a bottle compartment 6 is formed in a manner known per se.

The end walls 3 and 4 are provided with a lattice structure 7, whereby a light but at the same time strong box structure is achieved and plastic material is saved compared to the amount of plastic material required by the unitary wall.

The side walls 1 and 2 of the basket have openings 8 and 9 which are formed so large that the bottles inside the basket can be seen and, if necessary, taken out in accordance with the invention. The upper edges of the openings 8, 9 are formed by ribs 10, 11, the vertical distance between the lower edge 12 and the grate base 5 is indicated by the letter H in Figure 1. Figure 1 further draws a bottle 14, the height of which is indicated by the letter h. according to Fig. 1, a downwardly opening groove or notch 15, the distance of the bottom surface 16 of which from the grate bottom is 4 62801, denoted by the letter H '. According to Figure 1, the groove 15 is dimensioned so that the closest bottle 14 is at least partially behind the rib 10 (or 11) at the mouth part 17, whereby its retention during transport and storage is ensured. The bottle on the other side of the groove has a similar locking position with the mouthpieces of the other bottles adjacent the wall of the basket behind the rib 10 (or 11).

A lattice structure 18 is formed at the lower edge of the openings 8 and 9, the lowest point 19 (intersection of the lattice ribs) being fitted to the center of the bottle storage compartment and the highest point corresponding to the height of the compartment.

When picking up the bottles from the basket through the openings 8, 9 with the baskets arranged one on top of the other, the procedure is as follows. It is natural that when the basket is full, picking up the first bottles is a critical step in emptying. Emptying of the basket is started from the bottles of the row of bottles closest to the notch, e.g. bottle 14 »of Figures 1 and 4, which in the first step is turned in the direction of the groove 15 (dashed line 13 in Figure 1). through.
