Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a process for producing rosin oils from a renewable material A comprising rosin acid such as from a feedstock comprising crude tall oil. According to the process the rosin acid present in the renewable material is separated (202, 203), and the separated rosin acid D is subjected to thermal decarboxylation reaction (204) to produce rosin oil. The present invention also relates to a system (200) for carrying out the process, as well as to uses of the rosin oil obtainable by the process as renewable feedstock for increasing renewable content of fossil transportation fuels and as a renewable feedstock for production of renewable fuels and/or chemicals, or components thereto.
