Abstract
Apparatus or method for forming an article from a prepared piece of laminar foam material which is rolled up and compressed inside a covering or label in the form of a tube around it, is continuously indexed from a sheet 12 by means of a tractor mechanism 22 via a detector station 36 as far as a rolling-up mechanism 40 whose opposite surfaces for gripping the foam are able to move relative to one another in order to roll up and compress the various pieces. Preferably, the foam articles are injected 34 with a useful pre-load (pre-charge) substance before being compressed when rolled up.
