Abstract
In a process for improving the touch and drape of polyester textiles by discontinuous hot treatment with an aq. soln. of an alkaline metal hydroxide contg. is adjusted as a function of the textile prod. wt. loss to be obtd., in the ratio 1 : 2.4, and the ratio of textile wt. : aq. soln. vol. is 1 : 5-100. - Treatment is pref. at 140-60 deg.C for 30-240 mins., using more than 0.5 g (1-10 g) of hydrolysis accelerator/l of soln. claimed accelerators are cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, lauryl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, trimethyl stearyl ammonium methyl sulphate, and dimethyl ethyl coco ammonium ethyl sulphate.
