Abstract

The process for making a composite material which can be shaped by hot-pressing, for prodn. of parts and/or panels, e.g. wood agglomerates, consists of (a) de-fibring wood fragments by mechanical disintegration between opposed elements, carried out with temp. control so that the rise in temp. does not exceed 10 deg.C; (b) incorporating the defibred material; and (c) homogeneous mixing in which the final stage is by pneumatic action brought about by passing through a long pipe fitted with profiles which cause helical displacement of air blown through by a fan.
