Abstract

A sample-preparation vial for the gathering and preparation of a faecal-material sample or other clinical sample, for a diagnostic test, which includes a sample- dilution container and an upper sample-gathering and -distributing part. The sample-dilution container is formed in order to contain a liquid in an inner space. The container has an opening sized in order to receive the sample and a lateral wall which can be deformed when manual pressure is applied. The upper sample-gathering and -distributing part includes a lid housing which can be connected to the sample-dilution container in order to close the opening of the container. A sample-gathering tool is connected to the lid housing and extends from said lid housing in such a manner that the tool extends within the inner space of the sample-dilution container when the lid housing closes the opening of the container.
