Abstract
N-(2-(((5-dimethylamino methyl 2-furanyl) methyl) thio) ethyl) N'-methyl 2-nitro 1,1-ethene diamine of formula (I) is made by (a) treating a soln. of 1-methyl-thio- 1-methylamino 2-nitro ethene (IV) with a heavy metal salt selected from AgNO3, CoCl2, CoCl or HgCl, in organic solvent, e.g. methanol or acetonitrile, in presence of triethylamine and at ambient temp. to produce 1-nitro-3-methyl ketenimine CH3-N=C=CH-NO2 (III); and (b) reacting this with a cpd. of formula (II) at ambient temp. in presence of triethylamine and in methanol or acetonitrile to obtain (I) and its acceptable addn. salts.
