Abstract
PURPOSE:To control the thickness of an electrodepostion film to an optional preset value by a simple control apparatus, by calibrating and controlling a current charge amount along with the specific resistance and the pH of an electrodeposition liquid by utilizing such a fact that electrodeposition efficiency has no relation to the temp. of the electrodeposition liquid. CONSTITUTION:An object 2 to be subject to electrodeposition treatment, a pH and a specific resistance sensors 4, 5 are immersed in an electrodeposition paint liquid in an electrodeposition tank 1 to carry out electrodeposition for a predetermined time according to an electrophoretic method. The relation of an electrodeposition amount and a pH, specific resistance and a liquid temp. during this time is asked to be stored by a controller 7. On the other hand, when the relation of the liquid temp. and electrodeposition efficiency (electrodeposition amount per definite current charge amount) is asked, the electrodeposition efficiency becomes constant regardless of the liquid temp. and, if the current charge amount is controlled, the electrodeposition amount can be controlled. In addition, the relation of the surface area of the object 2 to be treated every a film thickness and the charge amount is stored by the controller 7 and said surface area and a desired film thickness are set to an operation part 9. In the next step, an electrodeposition current is measured by a shunt 6 to be put in an input part 8 along with the measured values of the sensors 4, 5 and added to the stored aforementioned relation in the operation part 9 to control or switch an output current so as to obtain an optimum current charge amount to a set electrodeposition film thickness.
