Abstract

The belt transmission is for a motor cycle using forced ventilation. It has drive (13) and driven (14) pulleys locating the belt (16) in a housing (6) with an intake (10) and output passages (11). A fan (13a,14a) is rigidly connected to one or more of the drive pulleys and to one or more of the driven pulleys. The intake and output passages open out into the housing in the vicinity of the drive pulley and the driven pulley respectively. The housing may be nominally horizontal with an approximately vertical transverse partition (6a) in the output zone. Outgoing air passes through an opening (24) in the top of the partition and through an exhaust passage (8) to gain the output passage through a lower opening (27).
