Abstract

A pivotally mounted trigger (73) is connected to rotate a pivotal sear (700). A reciprocal bolt carrier assembly (3) has a lug (325) to engage with the rear of the sear or a notch (717) in the top of the sear. Mounted on the pivot (731) of the trigger is a prop member (745) to cooperate with an L-shaped nose (720) of the seat. - When the trigger is pulled to rotate the sear in a first direction out of engagement with the lug, the prop member is initially prevented from moving with the trigger by the nose of the sear. When the lug is released by the sear, the sear is further rotated in the first direction by the lug contacting the upper sear surface to free the prop member to move toward the trigger and under the nose. The prop member then prevents the sear from rotating in the opposite direction until the trigger is released.
