Abstract

The dispensing appts. includes a supply of cups (13) which are conveyed to a cup dispensing station (25) by a transport system consisting of an arm (18) capable of limited rotation about an axis (14). The arm moves the cup over a predetermined path along which one or more ingredient dispensing stations (12) are located. The position of the arm is indicated by a disc (20) mounted on the same axis. Either by magnetic or optical methods a position signal in code form is generated, which is received by a central processing unit, e.g. 8085 or 8051. A control panel (31) is provided for drink selection and once money has been deposited and validated a motor (24) moves the cup arm until the position code generated corresponds with an ingredient selected. The motor then stops and the selected ingredient dispenser is activated whereupon the cycle repeats until all ingredients preselected are in the cup. The motor is then energised to transport the support (19) and the cup on it to the cup dispensing station (25) where the cup and dry ingredients pass down a shute (26) to the dispense platform. The processing unit then activates the water supply (29) while at the same time the cup transport system is moved ready for the next vend cycle.
