Abstract
Particulate alkaline detergent materials comprise (a) 5-40 wt.% synthetic detergent, (b) 12.5-25 wt.% alkali metal tripoly-phosphate, (c) 7-36 wt.% of a water-insoluble alumino-silicate builder, (d) 5-30 wt.% of a peroxy bleach, and (e) up to 15 wt.% of a bleach activator. The (d):(e) wt. ratio is 2-15:1.% (a) is pref. an anionic surfactant or a mixt. of anionic and nonionic surfactants in a wt. ratio of at least 2:1. The sum of the percentage of (b) plus half the percentage of (c) is pref. 25-37. The compsns. can also contain a stabiliser for the bleach system. Pref. compsns. comprise (a) 10-25 wt.% of a 3-10:1 mixt. of anionic and nonionic surfactants, where the anionic component is a mixt. of synthetic surfactant and soap; (b) 15-22 wt.% Na tripolyphosphate; (c) 12-30% crystalline aluminosilicate; (d) 5.5-27 wt.% Na perborate; and (e) 0.5-10 wt.% tetraacetyle ethylenediamine (TEDA). The (d):(e) wt. ratio is pref. 3.5-10:1. The compsns. maintain good bleaching performance at high water hardness levels.
