Abstract

A machine for making a drink, preferably coffee, comprising a heating element 1 located within a water tank 2. When the water reaches a desired temperature, a cut-off means 4 stops the heating and a pump 3 is actuated, automatically or manually, to pump heated water from the tank through ground coffee in a filter-holder 6. The filter holder 6 is engaged within a container 5 which is in thermal contact with the tank 2, and therefore the assembly of filter-holder 6 and container 5 is heated simultaneously with the water within the tank 2. The quality of the resulting beverage can be improved in this way.
