Abstract

A process of manufacturing separators comprises making a sheet of cellulosic fibres and polyethylene fibrils in particular proportions. Spacers (f) in the form of filaments of low-density polyethylene are deposited on the sheet (d) and heated to melt the fibrils on a cylinder (B). The spacers are then pressed onto the sheet by an idler roller (P) to yield a separator (h).
