Abstract

In a pneumatic dental instrument a manually-operated stop-start and reversing valve 5 controls a rotary motor of e.g. the sliding-vane type, comprising a fixed eccentric cylinder 2 and a rotor 3, which has an output shaft 3' to which the shaft b of a tool e.g. a drill, can be attached. Air enters and leaves the rotor chamber within the cylinder by way of openings 8, 9 in the latter and longitudinal passages 6, 7 in the casing 10.
