Abstract

A device for holding a vehicle door in several predetermined opening positions comprising a rod (6) pivotably connectible at one end (10) to a first part of the vehicle bodywork and sliding at its other end (11) in a slide member (9) in fixedly mountable on a second part of the vehicle bodywork, which second part is movable relative to the first part. The pivot connection (10) of the rod (6) can be quickly unlocked by means of a spring catch (21) to enable the rod (6) to be released and the opening of the second part, preferably a door (1), to be continued (to 180 DEG ) beyond the opening position corresponding to the end position of the rod in the slide member (9) (90 DEG ). The device is particularly suitable for use on the rear doors of a commercial vehicle.
