Abstract
Procedimiento e instalación para la producción continua de fibras ópticas, de sección cualquiera a partir de una barra de material vidrioso que es llevada a temperatura de reblandecimiento y hilada, procedimiento caracterizado porque, sobre la extremidad superior de una barra inicial, se deposita una sucesión de capas de material vidrioso o vitrificable en polvo, se someten las capas, a medida que son depositadas, a una implantación de iones de dopación para obtener una elegida distribución radial y axial de índice de refracción en la fibra a producir, pudiendo la implantación ocasionar, según la energía de los iones, una vitrificación por lo menos parcial de las capas depositadas, en el mismo tiempo se trasladan adelante progresivamente en dirección axial la barra y las capas de material sobrepuestas a la barra, realizando así con continuidad una preforma intermedia que aumenta en sentido axial, llevando la traslación axial la preforma intermedia a una zona en donde es calentada a una temperatura apta para la hilatura, y con una velocidad que establezca un equilibrio entre la cantidad de material qu3 3es depositada sobre la preforma y la cantidad que es sustraída por efecto de la hilatura.
