Abstract
A vertical steam separator- superheater suitable for drying and superheating steam coming from a high-pressure expansion turbine has a casing 1, enclosing a lower portion 3, having inlets 4A, which forms a separation zone, and an upper portion 4 which forms a superheating zone which has an axially extending dry steam inlet zone 15 communicating with the outlet from the lower portion 3. Nests of superheater tubes are disposed in tubular modules 16 and 17 which are spaced out round the axial zone 15 from which steam flows radially through the modulus to a peripheral superheated steam collection zone 18, surrounding the superheater modules. The tubular modules 16, 17 are fixed to a thin and flexible casing 30 which is itself fixed to the upper end 31 of the common casing 1. The lower end of the casing 30 is connected via an expansion bellows to the casing 1. This arrangement reduces the number of expansion bends which would otherwise be required.
